Introduction
This is the version of the Clavicula Salomonis (The Key of Solomon) that I have in my magickal library.
The Key of Solomon is actually very easy to understand, but this book can confuse the beginner student.
I also believe that The Key of Solomon is a protected book (magickally protected) , because it confuses people.
Angels and demons can give us keys to understanding the Clavicula Salomonis, by stimulating certain pathways of thinking in our brains.
This was the case with me. I asked the demons to help me understand the Key of Solomon.
Soon, as I started to study the Clavicula Salomonis, I noticed that I began to see hidden information in this book.
I understood the Clavicula Salomonis very fast. Both the Goetia and the Clavicula Salomonis are structured books.
This course will aid the beginner student in understanding the structure of the Clavicula Salomonis (The Key of Solomon).
But in order to understand the Clavicula Salomonis, you need to know the structure of the tree of life.
I have covered the basic theory of Kabbalah in my other online course “Qabalah and the Goetia theory for beginners”.
We can spend some minutes talking about the Kabbalah in this course too, because repetition helps to remember information and fix it in the memory.
But first I want to show you the structure of Clavicula Salomonis. Knowledge is power, because you will know which parts are important and which parts can be skipped.
The structure of Clavicula Salomonis
The introduction section
The Clavicula Salomonis begins with an introduction. I skipped this part of the book.
The introduction contains information about planetary hours and how to calculate them.
In old times, there were no automatic online astrological hour calculators, but today we have access to such services.
If you are new to the concept of astrological hours, we can talk about this topic a bit later in the course.
For your convenience, I provide you with a method to calculate astrological (planetary) hours in an easy way. See link below.
Once you are on the website, just insert your location (country and city) and also the desirable date for the calculation. Then press “Calculate planetary hours”.
According to the Clavicula Salomonis, each planetary hour is ruled by an angel.
This is good to know, but I do not fix my attention on the ruler of the hour and do not use this information in my rituals.
The angels that rule the planetary hours are not of great importance.
Book 1 (chapter 2)
Book 1 of Clavicula Salomonis begins after the introduction section. Book 1 is further divided in chapters.
Chapter 2 of Book 1 is important, because it contains useful information about the best times for rituals.
In order to understand chapter 2 of Book 1, we must know that the magick of Kabbalah is mostly done with the entities of the following Sephiroth:
Binah (sphere 3 on the Tree of Life)
Chesed (sphere 4 on the Tree of Life)
Geburah (sphere 5 on the Tree of Life)
Tiphareth (sphere 6 on the Tree of Life)
Netzach (sphere 7 on the Tree of Life)
Hod (sphere 8 on the Tree of Life)
Yesod (sphere 9 on the Tree of Life)
By the way, some 13 years ago I could not understand anything about the Sephiroth.
What are these Sephiroth? Sephiroth are astral worlds inhabited by archangels, angels and other spirits.
Each Sephira on the Tree of Life is ruled by a planet. It is therefore we calculate the hour of the planet that rules a particular Sephira.
So, there are 7 planets that rule the 7 Sephiroth. Each planet rules only one particular Sephira. See below:
Binah is ruled by the planet Saturn
Chesed is ruled by the planet Jupiter
Geburah is ruled by the planet Mars
Tiphareth is ruled by the Sun
Netzach is ruled by the planet Venus
Hod is ruled by the planet Mercury
Yesod is ruled by the Moon
Lets talk about each planet, the day of the planet and the hour of the planet.
Saturn (rules Binah)
Planet Saturn rules Saturdays. In the days and hours of Saturn its suitable to:
do necromantic rituals (during the hour of Saturn)
do magick to bring blessings to your home
do magick to increase the profits from your business
do magick to receive messages from Familiars while you sleep (hours of Saturn, Mars or Moon)
do magick to bring bad luck to the home of your enemy
do magick to ruin a business
do cursings and sow quarrels
Jupiter
In the days and hours of Jupiter it is suitable to:
do money spells
do spells to ensure good health
do spells for achieving goals
Mars
In the days and hours of Mars it is suitable to:
do spells to become brave
do spells to curse your enemies
to bring about quarrels between lovers
to split up a love relationship
to ruin your enemies
Sun
In the days and hours of Sun its suitable to:
do money spells
do spells to obtain favours from coworkers and bosses
do spells to become invisible to your enemies (hour of Sun, Jupiter or Venus).
The Moon should be in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius if you plan invisibility spells.
do spells to attract friendships (hour of Sun, Jupiter or Venus)
do spells to heal apathy and depressions
do spells to forgive somebody who has hurt you (hour of Sun, Jupiter or Venus)
do spells to change your luck
do spells to become better at reading the Tarot
do divinations
Venus
In the days and hours of Venus its suitable to:
do spells to attract friendships (hour of Sun, Jupiter or Venus)
do love spells (hour of Sun, Jupiter or Venus). Moon in Aries, Leo and Sagittarius will enhance your spell.
do spells to become more kind and forgiving (hour of Sun, Jupiter or Venus)
do spells to attract joy into your life
do spells to bring about an opportunity for travel
Mercury
In the days and hours of Mercury its suitable to:
do spells to expand your business
do spells to increase your sales and income
do spells to learn a subject fast
do spells to become wiser
do spells to obtain answers about your future
do spells to expose or to catch a thief (hour of Mercury)
Moon
In the days and hours of Moon its suitable to:
do spells for a safe trip
do spells for peace and reconciliation (hour of Sun, Jupiter or Venus). Moon in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius will enhance your spell.
do love spells (hour of Sun, Jupiter or Venus). Moon in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius will enhance your spell.
During Mondays, I do spells with Samigina, the necromancy demon of Goetia.
The Key of Solomon advises to summon such Spirits during the hour of Saturn, Mars or Moon.
Moreover, the Key of Solomon advises to summon the Spirits of necromancy when the Moon is in Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn.
So, this was chapter 2 in Book 1 of Clavicula Salomonis.
The parts you can skip
You can skip Book 1 / Chapter 3 (Concerning the arts). This section is about the ritual circle.
You can do rituals and spells with the pentacles contained in the Clavicula Salomonis by casting a modern style Witch circle or a circle in the Golden Dawn style.
Book 1 / Chapter 4 can be skipped too. It is about confessions and prayers. I do not use prayers, but I express my thanks in my own words on a daily basis.
You can also skip Book 1/ Chapter 5. This chapter contains prayers and conjurations. I do not say prayers all the time. After all I am not that religious.
You can skip Book 1/ Chapter 6 about stronger and more potent conjurations. I do not use this chapter, but it is up to you if you want to use prayers or not.
Finally, you can skip the pages between Book 1/ Chapter 8 and Book 1/ Chapter 18.
The parts that are worth reading
Book 1 / Chapter 7 (An extremely powerful conjuration) is worth reading though, because you will understand that you have to give the spirits the license to depart at the end of your ritual.
Book 1 / Chapter 8 (Concerning the medals or pentacles, and the manner of constructing them) is also worth reading, because this chapter describes how to construct the pentacles.
Also its worth reading Book 1/ Chapter 18, because you will find more information about the pentacles on these pages.
The order of the pentacles
This part is central and very important. There are 7 sets of pentacles in the Key of Solomon.
Each such set of pentacles is matched to a particular Sephira on the Tree of Life.
Saturn
Above you see the third pentacle of Saturn. The seals of the four spirits must be drawn out like you see on the picture.
The spirits of the third pentacle of Saturn are: Omeliel, Anachiel, Arauchiah and Anazachia.
All four spirits must be summoned during one and the same ritual. When you close your ceremony, you must thank the spirits and give them permission to go.
Below I offer you a video about the third pentacle of Saturn and describe how to use it.
You can summon the ruler of Binah (Tzaphkiel) and/or Cassiel too when you do magick with the third pentacle of Saturn.
I also use a controlling pentacle with the seal of Saturn and the seal of Agiel. See below:
Agiel is the Mind of Saturn (a spirit) and he has the capacity to control all spirits of Saturn (the spirits obey Agiel).
The seal of Saturn will align you with the energies of planet Saturn during your ritual.
Zazel does not have to be summoned during your ritual with the third pentacle of Saturn.
Chesed
7 pentacles are matched to Chesed (ruled by Jupiter). They are made out of blue paper or the corresponding metal.
The spirits of Chesed are summoned during Thursdays and also during the astrological hour of Jupiter.
I draw out the seals of the spirits. I use the Hebrew letter wheel (the Rose Cross Lamen).
You can find such a wheel in the book “Golden Dawn” written by Israel Regardie.
I also summon Archangel Tzadkiel when I do magick with the pentacles of Jupiter, because Tzadkiel rules Chesed.
I also use the third pentacle of Jupiter, because spirit Jophiel controls the spirits of Jupiter during the ritual.
All four spirits of the first pentacle of Jupiter must be summoned during one and the same ritual.
As I wrote before, I summon Tzadkiel and also Jophiel during the ritual with the first pentacle of Jupiter.
After the ritual is over, I thank all the spirits and give them licence to go.
Geburah
7 pentacles are matched to Geburah (ruled by Mars). They are made out of red paper or the corresponding metal (iron).
Magick with these pentacles is done during during Tuesdays and during the astrological hour of Mars.
It is desirable to draw out the seals of the spirits and you must summon all four spirits during one and the same ritual.
The first pentacle of Mars can help you:
fight or banish your bad financial situation
banish your fears for your survival
stop your addictions and self destructive thoughts and actions
Finally, this pentacle can help you to achieve your goals.
Tiphareth
7 pentacles are matched to Tiphareth (ruled by Sun). They are made out of yellow paper or the corresponding metal (gold).
Magick with the pentacles of Sun is done during Sundays and during the astrological hour of Sun.
I must admit that I have not done so much magick with the pentacles of Sun.
I have done lots of magick with Belial from Goetia. This demons is a solar king.
The second pentacle of Sun can aid you in shielding and protection spells.
It will also help you to repress the pride and arrogance of those people, who oppose your desires.
Netzach
5 pentacles are matched to Netzach (ruled by Venus). They are made out of green paper or the corresponding metal (copper).
Magick with these pentacles is done during Fridays and also during the astrological hour of Venus.
The problem with the Key of Solomon is this: the seals must be drawn out every time you do magick and this is time consuming.
The Goetia offers very powerful magick with demons and the seals are easy to draw.
When it comes to love spells, I do them with Sallos, Dantalion and Sitri from the Goetia instead.
But I love the pentacles of Jupiter from the Key of Solomon.
Hod
5 pentacles are matched to Hod (ruled by Mercury). They are made out of orange paper or the corresponding metal.
Magick with these pentacles is done during Wednesdays and during the astrological hour of Mercury.
Yesod
6 pentacles are matched to Yesod (ruled by the Moon). They are made out of silver or purple paper or the corresponding metal.
Magick with these pentacles is done during Mondays and during the astrological hour of the Moon.
Other text in the Key of Solomon
There is a lot of text in the Key of Solomon. That text is for those magicians who want to follow the old traditions very strictly.
As I wrote, I am very modern, but I love the Key of Solomon. Some ingredients like the black hen, dead animals and their skin or blood are hard to obtain.
I am against killing animals and I want the killings of animals to stop. I hope that people will soon begin to see the killings as illegal activity. It is not good to kill cows and pigs for eating them.
So, you don’t have to follow those old rituals described in the Key of Solomon.
You can do the rituals of Golden Dawn and work with the pentacles of the Key of Solomon.
The correspondences of each Sephira
